Bringing “A Human Connection” to Life
Studiotech teamed up with Edinburgh-based creative tech studio Bright Side Studios to create A Human Connection, an immersive exhibition all about interaction, emotion, and movement.
Inspired by Bright Side’s AbstrACTION project, the exhibition invited people to step in and shape their own experience. At its heart was the theme of love, explored through visuals, motion, and connection in unexpected ways.

EXHIBITION DESIGN
At the heart of the exhibition (literally!) was a striking LED cube that pulsed in sync with the audience’s heartbeat. This powerful centrepiece used real-time human data to create a deeply personal and emotional connection. The experience also featured creative lighting tech like projection mapping and kinetic elements, bringing motion, emotion, and atmosphere together in one immersive space.
To heighten the sensory impact, dynamic lighting solutions from our event sponsors, Traxon e:cue, were used throughout the exhibition. These helped shape the mood and movement of each scene, encouraging interaction and tapping into the visceral power of light and motion.
CONTROL AND INTERACTIVITY
Behind the scenes, the control setup brought all the elements together, from the LED cube pulsing to a visitor’s heartbeat, to the movement driven lighting effects that shaped the atmosphere throughout the space.
Each component, whether it was the kinetic features, projection-mapped visuals, or audience data inputs, was tightly linked through an integrated system. This allowed for smooth transitions and responsive interactions that felt intuitive and alive.
Rather than running on pre-set loops, the system allowed the exhibition to adapt in real time, shifting based on presence, rhythm, and motion to create a truly immersive, ever-changing experience.
Experience
A Human Connection invited visitors into a playful, emotionally charged environment where human interaction, light, and technology came together in unexpected ways. From the moment they stepped in, the audience became an active part of the exhibition, moving through a space that reacted to their presence, their gestures, and even their heartbeat.
Rather than observing from a distance, visitors were immersed in a sensory-rich playground where every element was designed to evoke a response. Lights shifted, structures moved, and visuals transformed, all depending on how people engaged with the space. The result was a deeply personal experience that encouraged exploration, curiosity, and connection, not just with the technology, but with each other.
