How Good Illumination Transforms Public Spaces

Celebrating world landscape architecture month!

April is World Landscape Architecture Month, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate the outdoor spaces that bring us together—parks, gardens, public plazas, and all those little pockets of nature that make our cities feel like home.

We’ve been lucky to work alongside some incredibly talented landscape architects who help bring these places to life.

Lighting plays a vital role!

While the design sets the stage, lighting plays its own powerful role, an d is something we care deeply about. When integrated thoughtfully, lighting can completely transform how a public space feels and functions after dark.

A perfect example of this is the recent transformation of Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester (take a look at the project here). What used to be a space that felt a little dark and uninviting at night has been transformed through thoughtful, integrated accent lighting and Light Art.

Lighting the way!

During World Landscape Architecture Month, we have a great chance to reflect on the important role public spaces play in our lives, and lighting is a huge part of that. Here’s why:

Well-integrated lighting in public spaces isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about making our cities safer, more dynamic, and more enjoyable for everyone.

As urban areas continue to evolve, projects like Piccadilly Gardens highlight the importance of thoughtful illumination in shaping the future of our shared spaces..
