Engineering design
Studiotech supplied both the luminaires and control system, with finer details considered such as bespoke mounting channels, which were custom-engineered and finished in a colour that seamlessly matched the building’s stone façade, offering a discreet and unobtrusive solution.
Each enclosure was discreetly sized to blend with the building’s architecture and remain hidden behind the balustrades. Site visits with the client and heritage advisor helped finalise positions and colours before installation.

Control
The project features a robust fibre backbone and 4G remote access, ensuring reliable connectivity. The lighting system is controlled by Traxon e:cue Sympholight, enabling seamless control across the entire project.
The control system manages DALI lighting, oversees main switching for heritage lighting, and integrates DMX control.
The use of RGBW LED technology adds a dynamic element, providing a fun and engaging option for special events. Additionally, a photocell sensor triggers the activation of heritage lighting when needed.
For the relighting of Covent Garden Market, we needed a trusted delivery partner to supply and install the Traxon equipment, so we turned to Studiotech.
We have a long history of collaboration with them; we know they are able to take our conceptual vision and deliver an installed scheme in an expert way.
Typically we form the concept and develop this through to technical design, Studiotech are then tasked with delivery, developing any installation or technical onsite details needed.
It’s a relationship that’s been built over decades of successful projects together and they’re a great bunch of really talented people to collaborate with.

Experience
The catenary system transforms the area by creating an inviting and visually striking atmosphere. The varied luminaires—Festoon, Globe, and Flood fixtures—offer a blend of functional and aesthetic lighting that enhances both the ambiance and safety of the space.
By seamlessly integrating with the environment, the catenary system encourages social interaction and activity, making the area more vibrant and engaging for residents and visitors alike.
