The Springs; an exciting new retail and leisure destination requiring an equally enticing lighting solution.
Architectural practice, The Harris Partnership, led the design of The Springs, a vibrant new retail and leisure destination at Thorpe Park in Leeds, incorporating a striking feature lighting scheme across the building exteriors and throughout the public realm.
Studiotech took responsibility for several aspects of the project, the most striking of which was the bespoke catenary lighting suspended above the public realm.
The first of its kind in the UK, this linear style catenary solution provides functional lighting yet transforms the public realm into a one-of-a-kind leisure setting.

The first of its kind in the UK, this linear style catenary solution designed by the Harris Partnership provides functional lighting yet transforms the public realm into a one-of-a-kind leisure setting.
Each stainless steel catenary cable was made to an exact length and securely fixed to the buildings in positions agreed with the structural engineer.
Studiotech then installed over 170 metres of RGBW strip luminaires, enclosed in flexible PVC housing, onto the suspended catenary system, creating a unique, eye-catching display of light and colour that transforms the public realm.

Experience
Lighting now gracefully illuminates the public realm. Tying in with dynamic colour changing RGBW LED to the mirror cladding, wall wash to the cinema façade, linear under soffit ambient lighting and living wall inground uplighters.
The lighting creates an engaging and flowing atmosphere for visitors as they journey through the centre.
