EngineerING Design

To achieve the required aesthetic and diameter specified by the architect, the 8m column was cut from the middle of a 12m conical column.

All bracketry supporting the CCTV has been custom designed and fabricated making it unique to Barking Riverside.

To maintain the aesthetic, each supporting bracket arm was attached to the column using stainless steel barrel bolts.

DIAGRID catenary cable layout

The diagrid catenary lighting layout combines structural efficiency with aesthetic appeal, creating a visually dynamic and functional illumination system.

Suspended from a geometric diagrid cable arrangement, the layout ensures even light distribution while maintaining an open, airy feel.

This catenary style minimises the need for bulky support elements, reducing visual clutter and enhancing architectural elegance.

Experience

The catenary lighting at Barking Riverside Station is designed to be both visually striking and highly functional. Suspended in a diagrid pattern, the lighting enhances the station’s modern aesthetic while providing consistent, well-distributed illumination across the public spaces at the entrance of the station.

This ensures clear visibility for passengers, improving safety and ease of movement, especially during evening hours or low-light conditions.
