Client: Land Securities
Scope of Works: Design, supply, installation and control of feature and general lighting
Shoppers in Clayton Square, Liverpool are now finding their attention is being taken away from the enticing window displays and drawn to the stunning new roof lighting created by Studiotech as part of the general improvement works to the centre.
Studiotech was approached by Troup, Bywaters and Anders (on behalf of their client Land Securities) to provide the specialist roof lighting which not only improves the white ambient light but gives an exciting and interesting architectural solution.
Previously the centre had been lit by outdated and inefficient metal halide and halogen fixtures which were expensive to run and difficult to replace due to their inaccessibility. The feature lighting was equally as inefficient and awkward from the maintenance point of view.
Studiotech surveyed the site and was able to offer a lighting design based around a full highly efficient LED lighting solution. The main malls would be illuminated by a combination of 70W LED floodlamps and 16W recessed downlighters replacing the old 150W metal halide and 36W downlights.
Installation of the system was completed out of normal hours, on time and within budget and in full liaison with the client's main contractor, Morgan Sindall, and their electrical subcontractor ensuring a minimum of disturbance/disruption to centre operations.
The finished installation now only outperforms the design modelling but has increased light levels by almost 30% whilst reducing the overall energy usage by 60% but still gives a stunning lighting display that highlights and enhances Clayton Square's architecture and heritage.
