Client: The Whitgift Centre, Croydon
Scope of Works: Replacement lighting to shopping centre service area
Presented with the problem of an old, dark, inefficient but busy loading bay at the Whitgift Centre, Croydon, Studiotech was challenged to uplift the lighting, reduce maintenance and save energy.
Our in-house design team surveyed the area and measured the light levels. From the information we gathered we produced a 3D lighting design of the loading bay and ensured our solution would meet the challenges set. We worked through the night to remove over 50 existing fluorescent luminaires and replace them with 23 LED lowbay lights.
The result is a spectacular 53% saving in energy and carbon production and the light levels have been raised by over 45%. The management at the Whitgift Centre were both surprised and very happy that the Studiotech team delivered both energy reduction and an improvement in lighting; the maintenance team are also delighted that they no longer have to give up their evenings in order to replace lamps.
The whole installation was completed out of hours by Studiotech engineers and was completed in less than a week thus causing minimum disruption to users of the shopping centre.
