Scope of Works: Installation of low energy LED street lighting to car parks
Land Securities challenged Studiotech to design and install an efficient and effective lighting solution to the car park at the White Rose shopping Centre in Leeds. The solution had to be capable of surpassing the stringent validation process demanded by them.
The low energy LED lighting chosen for this particular design and installation uses less than 30% of the energy of a traditional sodium lamp and has a life span of up to 50,000 hours. The lamps are also functional and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, giving excellent colour rendition and providing high definition for CCTV's, road users and pedestrians.
The first phase of this project involved the installation of 74 lamps. The fitting used is the Green Moth Clearwing 60W LED street lantern which has replaced the old 150W SON T lamps.
The new fittings were an easy retrofit to the existing columns and, due to the simplicity of the new luminaire, Studiotech were able to utilise all the existing wiring thereby ensuring that the overall cost remained well within the budget available and the energy saved will provide a return on investment within a period of two years. The lamps were all installed by Studiotech's own engineers over a seven day period causing minimal disruption to the operation of the centre and the users of the car park.
